Dear parents and guardians,
On Friday, students started the last bend in the reading lessons and their second book by the same author. Almost all students in all classes had finished their first book in the time provided. The need to have this second book done my Tuesday, December 18. During the lessons, students will be asked to create jots that focus on the skill taught that day. These jots are ongoing and meant to build their comprehension and understanding of the author's individual writing style that applies to all of the books they have written. The end project is to create a video text to teach other students about their author's craft moves, books, and writing style.
For the writing lessons for their companion book, they drafted and typed three chapters in Google Classroom. On Friday, December 6, they brainstormed the possible chapters for their companion book. This week, they will type two more. They also will be going back to revise their writing by looking at the format and evidence chosen to include. By the end of the week, they should have at least four chapters that they have typed and revised for format, flow, and explanation of evidence. The rubric will be given through Google Classroom on Wednesday, December 12.
This will be a big week for the students since they will be reading and writing a lot this week.
Please let me know if you have any concerns or questions.
